TPN has a HQ in SL!

With the awesome help of Dave Wallace (SL: Dave Koi), TPN now has a HQ in Second Life!

If you’re in Second Life, you can find it here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Liddy/91/148/21

This will be a place where we, TPN hosts and audience, can catch up to solve the world’s problems and extend the conversation that starts in the podcasts and blogs into another dimension.

I tell ya, grabbing some land and putting up a building in SL is very exciting. I’m buzzing!!

TPN HQ IN SL

Birthday presents arriving already!

There aren’t many better ways to arrive home than to find multiple Amazon boxes sitting on your front doorstep! Thanks to Nick Hodge, Caitlin Kelly (Aussies) and Wilson Roberto Afonso (Brazil!) for your most generous contribution to my birthday heist! The pile of books beside my bed just rose by six! This is in addition to Andy Brown from the UK who sent me some Napoleon DVD’s a few weeks ago. You guys have significantly improved my week which, with all the server issues I’ve been fighting through, has been incredibly shitty. Thank you for putting a big smile back on my increasingly dour face and stopping me from drinking rat poison for another day at least.

The books I got are:

    Bruce Lee’s Fighting Method
    Blink
    The Case For Mars
Sync: The Emerging Science of Spontaneous Order
Legacy Of Ashes: The History of the CIA
Accelerando (a sci-fi classic by Charles Stross)

Definitely a bunch of great things to challenge my thinking in a bunch of different ways which will no doubt lead to more interviews! Thanks again folks. You rock.

My birthday (Oct 10) is still a couple of weeks away though, so there is plenty of time for the rest of your to spread the love by buying me shit from my Amazon wishlist and stop me from killing either myself or my IT support people.

Halo 3 – first game

I went over to Thomas Reynolds’ place tonight to play some HALO 3.

It was awesome. Graphics, gameplay, the way it saves your multiplayer games to the hard drive, and you can play them back, swap camera angles, pause, go into bullet time… wicked.

Help Me Write The TPN Survey 2007

It’s almost that time of year when I need to ask TPN’s audience to help us out by completing a survey. This year, for the first time, I’m actually taking the process seriously. This year I want to collect some basic information about the demographics and behaviours of our audience so we can continue to try convincing advertisers that podcasts are a great way to build relationships with their stakeholders. Whilst I know that completing surveys is a pain in the a$$, I’m hoping that our audience will appreciate that we are still here, producing content which you apparently like, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, and so far most of us are still doing it for free. However, the bigger TPN gets, the more money we need to spend on infrastructure and so we need to continue to grow our advertising support. Otherwise, this will all disappear. And I’m sure most of you don’t want that to happen.

This year I’m taking the extra step of asking you to help me prepare the survey. I’ve saved a draft up to Google Docs and I’m hoping a few of you might run your eyes over it and give me suggestions for ways to make it better. You can leave your suggested improvements here or email them to me.

Go to the draft!

G’DAY WORLD #294 – Garry Barker, The Day I Met Che Guevara

Garry Barker has been a journalist for over 50 years and in that time has had a range of amazing experiences, some of which he shares with me in today’s show. These include working for Rupert Murdoch in 1955, meeting Che Guevara and Fidel Castro in 1962, working in the White House Press Corp during the JFK years, meeting Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and his time as a war correspondent in VietNam.

You can catch Garry every week on TPN’s Take Two podcast where he interviews senior Australian business executives with his fellow journalist Leon Gettler and provides insight and analysis into the week’s business news.

Become part of the G’Day World conversation.

I’ve created a couple of groups inside Second Life. You can now add yourself to the following groups:

  • Friends Of G’Day World
  • MODM
  • The Podcast Network
  • If I knew how to link directly to those groups from here, I would. But I don’t. So for now you just need to search for them in-world. Or you can add “Cameron Switchblade” to your friends and check out the groups I belong to.

If you’re a member of Facebook, you can ADD ME AS A FRIEND and then ADD YOURSELF TO THE G’DAY WORLD GROUP.

You can show your love by buying me stuff from my Amazon wish list.

Add me to your Twitter account.

    You might DIGG the show.
