The Connections Show with Stan Relihan

I’m very pleased today to launch The Connections Show with Stan Relihan. This is going to be a show dedicated to the power of Social Networking. Stan, who is a LinkedIn Power User, with something like 7000+ connections, is going to be exploring how we can all make the most of the tools we now have available to us.

Get TPN Out Of Podshow

It has just been brought to my attention that Podshow seem to still be sucking up TPN feeds and adding them to their directory. Which would be fine, I don’t mind additional exposure, except for this clause in their Terms:

By posting your Member Works on the Member Pages, you are granting PodShow a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and worldwide license to use your Member Works in connection with the operation of the PodShow Websites, including, without limitation, the license rights to copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat your Blog Works, and/or to incorporate it into a collective work.

Funnily enough, I’m not pleased with that clause. Not to mention that our podcasts clearly state that they are produced under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 license, part of which states “Noncommercial. You may not use this work for commercial purposes.”. And I do believe Podshow is a commercial operation. So they are in breach of our license.

And, on top of that, their directory is broken. According to Podshow, the last episode of G’Day World, and many other of our podcasts, was back in May 2007. WTF? They have raised $24 million from VC and they can’t even get their website to work? What is that?

So anyway, I’ll be sending them an email today asking them to cease and desist. I suggest other podcasters make sure they do the same.

Duncan Riley is “On The Pod”

Duncan Riley, founder of “The Blog Herald, co-founder of b5 Media, and presently a writer for TechCrunch, joins TPN today with his new podcast “On The Pod“.
On The Pod features guests that might otherwise not have a high profile yet have something interesting to say. The topics vary from Web 2.0, through to Tech and general politics including labor issues and topical events. On The Pod aims to provides something different amongst the swarm of podcasts, great listening fodder for the commuter or frequent traveler.

If you know Duncan’s work, you’ll be aware that he is known for his particular “take no bullshit” style, so I can’t wait to hear his interviews! His first episode features an interview with serial blogger, David Krug.

TPN launches “The Better World Show”

Today TPN is pleased to launch “The Better World Show“, hosted by Scott Sherman (from TPN’s hugely successful Digital Photography Show) and Cameron Reilly (host of TPN’s G’Day World, Napoleon 101 and CEO of The Podcast Network).

You work hard, you raise your family, and you try to do the best you can. But in the back of your mind you’re aware of those huge problems out there that seem unsolvable: global warming, poverty, genocides, AIDS, war. You know life has to be about more than making a living, taking care of the kids and accumulating more stuff. But when it comes to the big issues facing the planet, you wonder: What difference could I possibly make? The answer: Plenty. If enough of us take even small actions, the difference we can make is huge. It’s a tough world out there. Join hosts Scott Sherman and Cameron Reilly and help us make it a better one.

Do you think TPN is cool?

Are we hip? Fancy? Any other quaint epithets? If so, you might want to nominate us in Anthill Magazines’ Cool Company awards this year. I nearly nominated us last year but they were going to force me to buy an annual subscription to their magazine. This year, the boys assure me they’ve changed the rules. So – if you want to nominate TPN, do so here.
