Join Cameron Reilly, Australia’s #1 podcaster, and his special guest co-host Mike Seyfang, as they try to uncover the truth about WinFS and Vista!
In today’s episode we cold-call a couple of senior folks at Microsoft Australia to try to get them to answer two questions:
- What the hell happened with WinFS? Did the web kill it?
- What are the top five reasons why we should buy Microsoft Vista
As you’ll see, one of the Microsoft folks refused to give us the time of day and the other gave it his best shot.
Don’t forget to pop over to our G’DAY WORLD FORUM to chat about all this stuff in more detail.

I am also happy Australia is out of the world cup.
So i wont get swamped at work every night a game is on.
On the WinFS being killed by the web. I haven’t read the Scoble stuff yet, but surely part of that argument is if we are storing all our stuff in the Internet cloud, why do we care what our local File System does as long as it doesn’t stop us getting to the cloud?
Just a thought.

PS. Love the format of this show. I.E. Pick a topical issue/Product and Skype Bomb topical people without warning (as long as it aint me!)
Since when is “because its pretty” not a good reason to buy something? Another good reason to get Vista is because I’m bored of XP.
Another thing. Frank’s son said he wante to install it now. Ask him if he still wants to install it if he has to pay the expected cost of it or if hes just as happy to go on with XP. That would be a better test!

I know this is old, but I’ve just listened to this podcast and it sent shivers down my spine. I’m a developer on Microsoft platforms, and I would be absolutely appalled if a manager in my company was unable to explain what makes our developers and products special, and why you should work with us.
Shocking.
Yeah I was very disappointed as well Ben, especially with Microsoft being my old domain. As I’ve said on the show since then, if you rang me up and said “quick – top five benefits of podcasting” I’d be able to answer you in a flash. I think Microsoft should put me on a retainer to cold call ALL of their staff and ask them the same question. I’m like the mystery shopper.
