GDAY WORLD #214 – Rich and Gra from Scouta

On episode 214 I have Rich and Gra from Scouta on the line. As most of you will know, Rich and Gra used to be podcasters on TPN before they selfishly and wantonly deserted me to run their own start-up. Do I hold a grudge? Do I ever. I’m like Tony Montana. Don’t cross me. I get my revenge today by singing Rainbow Connection to them. That’ll teach them.

Anyway, for those of you who haven’t already checked out Scouta, it’s a pretty cool idea. It’s a website where you can tell it what online videos and audio shows (like, for example, this podcast) you like a lot and it will recommend new things for you to watch and listen to.

  1. But you missed the best bit about the origin of the word algebra. It came from the Arabic al jebr, meaning “reunion of broken parts” and was used in English in the 15th and 16th century’s to mean “bone-setting”.

  2. Cam, you forgot to ask the big question. How are they going to monetize Scouta?

But this was a great podcast, brought a tear to my eyes thinking of the golden age of podcasting and TPN when there was a Web 2.0 show. Those were the days.

  3. Rich, it was good to hear your voice again… Why not a Scouta Podcast? telling us about the lastest stuff on Scouta?

And Cameron… I just LOVE The Rainbow Connection… You did a great job of it… You need to record it as a single and release it on one of you fav independent music sites…

Isn’t it good that as a parent of young children it is a licence to be a dag… at their 21st’s thery are going to whinge about how their dad was “so embarrasing” when he sang them this funny old song that a frog used to sing… Good on you – keep it up.
