Today it’s again my pleasure to catch up with Dr Peter Ellyard, Australia’s leading futurist. We caught up for lunch in South Yarra today and chatted about why visionaries often feel frustrated with their own progress, the need for a world democracy and how shareholders can use their voting power to effect political change.

The G’Day World Theme Song is “Save Me†by The Napoleon Blown Aparts.
At work so haven’t listenned to this ep yet but mention of the world democracy in the post reminded me of thoughts i had after listenning to ep 3; A world democracy would be great with regional representatives elected via the web with no established institutions aid or interferrence. The elected reps can then get a sense of what the people in each really want via web polls and all manner of web 2.0 bells and whistles. I’d love australian people to be spoken for by australians and not John Howard.
Then i was thinking at live earth on the weekend that we need a world flag (symbol) to all get behind so we can visually show support individually at events, etc. It would have been great to see hundereds of people with a :world flag” at live earth.
The world democracy can then lobby current international bodies (UN, etc) with agendas set by individuals and not currently elected parties (with alternate agendas).
