Tony has uploaded the first episode of the All New Productivity Show! He invited me on as the first guest. We talked about my productivity over the last six months and some of his tips and tricks. Good fun. Glad the show is back.

ICKY THUMP!!!! I’ve been listening to The White Stripes new album this morning and YAAHHHHHHH!!!! It rocks baby! There wasn’t a single song that didn’t thrill me. Every song has it’s own unique charm – a riff, a joke, a bagpipe solo, a guitar solo, something that makes it deliciously ambitious, outrageous, glorious! Jack White is the Quentin Tarantino of rock. Everything he does just seems to yell “I’VE GOT THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!!!!”. You can tell the guy just gets so much delight out of turning rock upside down, pulling ideas out of everywhere, throwing them into a punk rock blender, and then throwing the cocktail into your face, ice cubes and all. In a week when David Chase gave us all the finger, Jack White has provided the medicine. Did you know it’s now official that Jack and Meg were, in fact, once married? The whole “brother/sister” story was belied a while back.

I’m also enjoying Tori Amos’ new album AMERICAN DOLL POSSE. Yeah Tori, you’re a MILF alright. Thanks for reminding us. Did you realize she is now 44? 40 is the new 20.

Kissing Hank’s Butt. I just read this great story on The Jesus Myth blog about some people who go around kissing the butt of a guy called Hank. Apparently if you kiss Hank’s butt, he’ll give you a million dollars. But wait – there’s a catch. Read the whole yarn. It’s very clever.

Been quiet for the last couple of days. Lots of travel and meetings.
Yesterday, Duncan Riley (aka Michael Arrington’s bitch), Jim Stewart and I spoke on a panel at the evolve conference in Melbourne. The panel was about content anarchy or something. We were the last session of the day and today Kimberley (the event organizer) told us that the audience voted our session the best of the day. I bet she says that to everyone though. Jim says his favourite moment was my dildo reference. Don’t ask. You had to be there.

Caught a taxi to the airport with Ross Dawson and we had a great chat about the Singularity. Ross looks like an accountant but he’s really a major geek. He’s got a one minute video interview with my ungrateful protégé Rich Giles from his Web 2.0 event in Sydney last week. As usual, he didn’t invite me to speak. Hmph.

For those of you who can’t get enough of me (which isn’t many of you), I’m on this week’s edition of The Father Bob Show. I’ll be taking over co-hosting the show again for a few weeks while Michaela takes a holiday. Someone want to start a book running on how long it will be before Bob and I get into a screaming argument over the evils of religion?

What’s Cam reading at the moment, did I hear you ask?
Here’s a quick selection of the latest tomes added to the veritable mountain beside my bed:

I’m very pleased to be able to chat with Adrian Giles from Hitwise on the show today. Back in 1997, Adrian and his partner started the company age 23 and they recently sold it to Experian for US$240 million. We talk about the beginnings of the company, the business model, the challenges with raising VC in Australia, and what it feels like to be this cashed up by 33.

If you are in Australia, look out for this week’s edition of Computer Trader magazine. Paul McKenna asked me to write something about the Vint Cerf interview. Thanks for the opportunity Paul!

Ryan Sholin wrote this post “10 obvious things about the future of newspapers you need to get through your head” on June 2 about the future of newspapers. It ended up on the front page of TechMeme and obviously struck a chord with lots of people. So I invited him onto the show to explore his key points in some more detail.
Ryan is a graduate student in Mass Communications at San Jose State University, working on a thesis about the adoption of weblogs at U.S. newspapers and he works at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

I’ve got three invites to give away to beta test Spock. First three emails I get with the following subject line, get one:
“Please Mr Cameron sir, you are so mighty and your generosity so bounteous, please sir, may I have a Spock invite?”

Reggie Finley Sr is “The Infidel Guy“. Since 1998 he has been hosting his own radio show/podcast about atheist thinking. We catch up to talk about podcasting business models, Atlanta, atheism, rational thinking, hip-hop, WMD, etc. If you want to add another great atheist podcast to your list, make sure you check out The Infidel Guy.
By the way, on his site today I found this image which I love.

A couple of new shows have started on TPN in the last week.

This has been one of my personal favourite podcasts since Dave Gray pointed it out to me six months ago, so I’ve excited they have joined the Team TPN. Richard and Shawn discuss quotations which appear on their web site Quotiki.com. For example, in their latest episode they have quotes from Queen Elizabeth II, The Ultimate Warrior of wrestling fame, Laura Ingalls Wilder and her ‘Little House on the Prarie’, and more. Educational and funny.
Speaking of education…

Ben Wilkoff is a teacher in the USA and “Education Transformation” this is a new show examining “Education 2.0” – how teachers, students and parents can use modern tools like blogs, podcasts and the web as a central component of education. In his first episode, has has an interview with Paige Kuni (Intel’s Worldwide Manager for K-12 Education).
Lots more new shows launching on TPN soon as well!

MODM 2 was last week and I think most folks had a great time. I certainly did. I think we had about 50 people there, which is pretty good for our first real event. Thanks again to our sponsors Eight Black and to our guest speaker Dr Peter Ellyard.
Here’s a video of Peter’s talk about future makers versus future takers and the difference between management and leadership.
Are you a member of Facebook yet? If so, join the MODM group. And keep an eye on the MODM website. The next event will be held Thursday July 5th, and the plan is to hold it again at ACMI Lounge. This next event will be sponsored by Microsoft Silverlight.
