This is what Chrissy and I watched this morning in bed. Not your usual breakfast TV. It’s a terrific talk. (via Beyond The Fringe)

I’ve always found Tariq Ali to be smug and self-important. He’s cut from the same cloth as Hitchens. I’d be more sympathetic to their messages if they weren’t so pompous.
Did you watch this video, Charlie? I don’t think he could be further away from ‘smug’.
smug = irritatingly pleased with oneself (wiktionary)
that’s what I see when I watch that video. He’s entertaining a crowd of sympathisers and they’re fawning over him which is pretty much what he’s spent his whole career doing.
ROFL. I think that’s pretty harsh Charlie! Anyway, I think being “smug” is a minor crime, surely.
