Damn I’m tired today. Went downstairs for a quick nap at 9.30am and woke up two hours later.

Productivity tip of the day – delete the “Latest News” live feed from Firefox toolbar. I think I checked that 50 times a day. It’s now GONE.

How do you know that someone in Facebook is real?
I went to add Richard Dawkins to my Facebook friends list today and was writing him an introduction message when I thought – how do I know this is really Dawkins? I stumbled upon his profile in the Atheism group. But how do I know this isn’t some 16 year old kid who created Dawkins’ profile? Is there anyway of telling?

Anyone else still getting telemarketing calls even though you’re on the Do Not Call register? I actually registered a complaint about one today from “Freedom Escape”, some kind of holiday packages outfit.

I love what Kimberley from Evolve has done with the magazine I got in the mail today.

I did a Myers-Briggs test today and it said my personality type is INTP. For some reason, people on Twitter find that hard to believe….

Hey, Cam,
I’ve been meaning to leave a comment regarding tags within your MP3 files. MP3s downloaded from GDay have no title, album, or artist. The only way for a podcast to show up on my 8GB Creative Zen is if I sort on one of those.
So, I’ve been entering them manually, which isn’t too bad, but it may prevent other from enjoying GDay.
Whaaaat?? Minh, how long has this been happening? Anyone else experiencing this? Please let me know. I have been doing the tags in iTunes for the last six months and wasn’t aware it was causing any problems. The tags seem to be there in iTunes for me. Is it possible that its a compat problem between iTunes and the Zen? Thanks for bringing it to my attention Minh!
The Creative Zen won’t read ID3v2 tags, only v1. What version are yours Cam?
no idea! I just do ’em in iTunes. Any idea how I tell?

Thats not very Zen, nor 2.0 for that matter.
On the subject of ID3 tags, can you trial changing the title tag from “G’Day World #259” to “GW #259” or “GDay:259” or something as the current form takes up too much room when browsing on my iPod. I have to scroll to each episode and wait for the title to start to scroll before i know what i’m looking at. Dito for the productivity show too.
I had wanted to say something but hate to meddle.
Hell, while i’m here you have to keep the artist and album info exactly the same each time otherwise iTunes in it’s infinite wisdom starts spreading the episodes all throughout its library. Eg, now that Tony’s taken over the productivity podcast, we all get an extra artist in our artist lists to have to check if looking for a specific episode…. a bit exhaustive? Sorry, been lacking human contact all day..
Hugo, good ideas. I’ll make the changes to GW. Re the artist changes, do you search for podcasts to listen to by artist or podcast name?
I don’t find it any harder to believe that you’re introverted than you find it to believe I’m extroverted.
The important thing is that shyness and confidance are learned. The individual need for human contact is something you’re born with.
So you are introverted but have learned to be confidant, and I’m extroverted but experience has made me shy.
Mim/Cam: I’ve always been confident in myself but never assumed to be in a position to make waves (apparently introverted). More and more though I find I have learned a slight bit of selfishness in that I need to makes waves in order to create the world I want to be living in on both a macro and micro scale (apparently extroverted).
I’m reading the tipping point at the moment (awesome book) and it talks about the psych term FAE (fundamental attribution error) whereby humans tends to oversimplify things to reduce the amount of info we have to process. This is where stereotypes comes in to play. An example of this in the book is that the overbearing “bitch” in the office is only nice when she wants something. The truth however is that she is probably all of the following; strong, to the point, lacks patience, gives a lot and expects as much in return, nice and friendly. The context of her surroundings and pressures however determine which attribute she displays at any one time. It’s much easier however to just say that she’s a bitch and move on though. My point is that I’m not sure how much faith I out in the tests and that I’m probably many things, some more than others but I will always present a slightly different form based on my context and wisdom to that point.
Cam: re podcast listenning – I listen to most through the podcast section on my ipod. These are simple to find (“podcast name” > “episode”) are get automatically taken off my iPod when I next dock it.
If i download a back catalogue when i am new to a podcast or now that i have raw folders and files for a lot of my mp3s due to moving computers, etc i then have to listen to them by going “artist” > “album” > “episode”. This is when it gets annoying with multiple artists and changing album names.
I got my Zen a few months back, but have only gotten into the habit of listing podcasts by title recently. I did notice that Gday lost all tags recently, so I went back to the feed to investigate. I got these results:
> GDay podcasts lost all MP3 tags on #261 (July-7)
> GDay podcasts lost title tags on #218 (March-26)
I also noticed that iTunes uses the file name as the default value for the Title tag, so, maybe if you don’t change the title from the default, it’s left blank?
Or if you’d start using iTunes earlier than that, perhaps different versions do things differently.
