GDAY WORLD #167 – wHooiz Cast 001

wHooiz logo

About a month ago, Clarke Scott and I launched wHooiz in STEALTH mode. We were so successful at keeping it in stealth mode that most of you haven’t heard of it. So now we’re moving it up to WHISPER mode. Which basically means we’re talking about it… but not much. We’d really like to get some feedback on it from some of our closest friends – which means you.

What is wHooiz? Well it’s basically the wikipedia of people. Listen to the show for more information.

If you’d like to provide some feedback on wHooiz, please jump over to the TPN forums.

  1. Quit calling it boodist! Its Buddhist there is no ooo in it anywhere.
Boodist is horribly offensive to the ears.

Not to mention that the word comes from Buddha for which the official Sanskrit pronunciation is [Buddh] with u as in put. The only places that suggest that its Booddha are American dictionary’s and what the hell do they know about language.

  2. Aha see!
Never argue on correct pronunciations of Buddhist terms with someone who’s aunt is on a three year retreat and who’s mother was all ready with a ticket to move to Dharamsala when she was 17 until her Guru told her that she was of no use to the world without an education.

  3. I am not sure its a product that I would use a lot. Perhaps if you had private and public profiles so that I could use your system as my own personal database. On the system, from a quick look, somethings need to accept multiple answers, i.e. websites and one obvious one that your missing is Nickname.

  4. I can’t remember off the top of my head but the profile was about twice as long.
Actually I’m pretty sure it had your address on it before because I remember thinking to myself that there was no way you’d have that up if you were a girl because you’d end up with a weirdo stalker.

  5. Hi Clark,
This is rambling off the top of my head but I hate to say it but the Public, Friend, Family (maybe colleague or businessy setting) model of security is probably not a bad one. I guess also that you could probably have settings for information internal to a profile (i.e. Blog might be Public but birthday might be friends only.

I guess another question in the long run is who owns a profile. If (like I believe you said that in the future) you can create peoples profiles, does the person the profile is about own the profile or does the person that created the entry?

  6. Hey Cam, I’ll cyber stalk you….too attached to my couch to do the real thing!

p.s. wHooiz looks very cool, I look forward to seeing how it progresses.

  7. Molly,

The friend you added the profile for will still need to accept the terms of use and therefore they are the ower of the profiler. It;s just that someone else has entered the data for you.

As for the public/private thing…we really want to keep this as simple as possible.
Otherwise it will just turn into another social network. And that is something that IMO will kill the idea as it is a wikipedia or white page for everyone.
