IN G’Day World #291 I feature three interviews I have completed over recent weeks with senior executives from three of Australia’s top ISPs:
- Ravi Bhatia, CEO of Primus
- Simon Hackett, CEO of Internode
- Ben Dunscombe, Regulatory Affairs Manager, Netspace
In a way, these interviews are a response to the show I did with Dr Phil Burgess from Telstra a few months ago (G’Day World #211).
You’ve all heard various people, including Telstra and Senator Coonan, state that Australia is lagging the world in broadband. So I asked these gents for their perspective.
I’ll be interested to know what you think of their answers.

If I knew how to link directly to those groups from here, I would. But I don’t. So for now you just need to search for them in-world. Or you can add “Cameron Switchblade” to your friends and check out the groups I belong to.
If you’re a member of Facebook, you can ADD ME AS A FRIEND and then ADD YOURSELF TO THE G’DAY WORLD GROUP.
You can show your love by buying me stuff from my Amazon wish list.

I am very happy that Bigpond turned on 30Mbps with 1Mbps upload! GO TELSTRA! The extra upload speed is fantastic. Makes uploading to Flickr and my Podcast hosting doable in a reasonable time (one quarter the time).
Molly
You realise that Internode offer up to 2.5’Mbps’ upload, and every other ADSL2+ provider offers 1Mbps upload?
I am sure there are better ones around and probably cheaper but Bigpond for all their faults has been fairly reliable and they have some features that work for me. Plus its cable and that works as well. Round for improvement as I understand.
Molly
Christ Molly, are you on the Telstra payroll?
I am for sale. Obviously they stopped paying you (that or has the Imperius Curse worn off)?

once again Simon Hackett shows why he has the respect of so many network tech’s in Australia. He cuts through the politics and explains some of the core issues.
I had heard about this mysterious third link to OS so good to hear a little bit of detail and great to hear that Pipe is pushing the business case. They have really rattled the cage in Australia on many fronts.
What was interesting in comparison with the interview you did with Telstra, is that these guys were mostly positive and not ranting too much about the others or Government.
