okay folks so… I’ve given zero thought to what we should do on Dec 2nd to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of G’Day World and therefore the 2nd anniversary of Aussie podcasting. How about a poker night at my place? BYO food, drinks and poker chips. Also bring $20 for the pot. Texas Hold ‘Em. Pubs up the road in case we get too many people. Which isn’t likely. 🙂
Do me a big one and go download today’s episode of showBUZZ as well. Or just listen to it here:

It’s my great pleasure today to have Doug La Follette on the show. Doug is a United States academic, environmental activist, and politician. He is the current Secretary of State of Wisconsin. Known as an environmental activist before running for public office, in 1970 he was a Wisconsin organizer of the first Earth Day for Gaylord Nelson, and co-founded Wisconsin’s Environmental Decade (now known as Clean Wisconsin) with Peter Anderson.
We talk about the history of the environmental movement, how you can figure out the global warming facts from the climate change disinformation, and what you and I can do to make a difference.
To get the facts, Doug recommends these websites:

In today’s news:
The Pew Internet and American Life Project said Wednesday that 12 percent of Internet users have downloaded a podcast, an increase from 7 percent earlier in the year.
However, only about 1 percent said they download a podcast on a typical day — unchanged from the survey earlier this year. The rest do so less frequently, perhaps only once.

I read this as “lots of upside”. 🙂

About a month ago, Clarke Scott and I launched wHooiz in STEALTH mode. We were so successful at keeping it in stealth mode that most of you haven’t heard of it. So now we’re moving it up to WHISPER mode. Which basically means we’re talking about it… but not much. We’d really like to get some feedback on it from some of our closest friends – which means you.
What is wHooiz? Well it’s basically the wikipedia of people. Listen to the show for more information.
If you’d like to provide some feedback on wHooiz, please jump over to the TPN forums.

Thanks to a feed error that Caitlin is getting from the G’Day World feed, I was prompted this morning to check out Netvibes and I was immediately hooked. I’ve now dumped Bloglines and will be using Netvibes as my default home page / RSS reader.
What is Netvibes? Here’s a nice description from masey’s excellent step-by-step guide to configuring it:
Netvibes.com is a custom made web 2.0 home page solution that allows you to create a personalised page filled with content that you find useful… that is relevant to YOU! It’s ideal for your browser homepage and can be accessed from any web enabled computer anywhere!
It’s very cool. Check it out.
By the way, I still haven’t figured out why the G’Day World feed isn’t working inside Netvibes. It seems to be working okay in iTunes and Bloglines. Anyone else noticing problems?
