On August 10 2007 I attended the X|Media|Lab in Melbourne and had the opportunity to interview a number of the key speakers. I’ll be putting those interviews up over the next week. This first one is with Brendan Harkin, the Founder and Director of X|Media|Lab.
Brendan founded X|Media|Lab in June 2003. X|Media|Lab is the internationally acclaimed cross-disciplinary creative thinktank for digital media professionals which brings together some of the world’s outstanding creatives, executives, and power-brokers to work as mentors with local companies on their own digital media project ideas.

A few months ago I was on the phone to a friend of mine and said “The questions you ask yourself define your reality”. My friend then introduced me to the work of Dr John Demartini. A few things surprised me when I read the information on his website. The first was that he actually sounded a lot like me, so I knew he must be a good, highly intelligent guy.
The second surprise was that he was one of the people featured on “The Secret”. Now… you know what I think about that film. And there seemed to be a disconnect between the stuff I read on Demartini’s site and what I remember from the film (it’s been a year since I saw it).
Then, in a “synchronicity” moment (one of Demartini’s favourite words), Dr Peter Ellyard introduced me to author Liliane Grace (her podcast, based on her book “The Mastery Club“, will be starting on TPN soon) and who should have written the introduction to her book?? Dr John Demartini.
So I asked for an introduction, had my people call his people, and today I got to chat with him from his hotel in Seattle.
Listen to how he separates his work from the mumbo-jumbo of “The Secret” and his tips for figuring out how to get the most out of your life.

You can find out more about his books and seminars on his website (link) and you can get a free CD with more information on the “Demartini Method” by clicking on this link:

My guest today is a G’Day World listener from Paris, Bernard Malige. Bernard, who works as an engineer with Renault, helped me better understand the French system of taxation and social services. If you’ve seen Michael Moore’s latest film SICKO, you already know that in France, pretty much all health care (except high end elective procedures) is paid for by the Government out of your taxes. When I saw the film, I wasn’t sure how high the taxes were in France and Bernard offered to help out. Turns out, they are quite low. If you’re an American, you probably don’t want to listen to this show. It’ll just depress you. We also talk a little bit about the French public’s view on Iraq, the USA, Libya and Napoleon.
Bernard is now our official “European Correspondent”.

Richard Giles and I chat about some things that have been on my mind lately, including:
How Christians who justify Yahweh’s kill count in the Old Testament just prove my point that they are crazy and dangerous.
Some history on the Bhagavad Gita
WIRED: How Madison Avenue Is Wasting Millions on a Deserted Second Life
Some history on Fidel Castro If you want a quick overview on why the US hates Castro, watch this video.
Rich is going to be on the Boing Boing “Rule The Web” podcast this week
And “G’Day World” is on the first page of Google results for the search term “G’Day”! Thanks for the tipoff Molly! I knew you’d come in useful for something someday!

Geoffrey Bowll is the MD of Melbourne-based ad agency Starship. I chatted with him yesterday about the demise of TV, the rise of the creative class and the fragmentation of media. It was great to find someone in the Aussie advertising industry who is excited about social networking, Second Life and Twitter.
Speaking of which…
